The difference

History and how its made

  • Made in and around Bolesławiec, a town in southwestern Poland known for pottery for centuries
  • The area's natural clay deposits are the reason the craft began and continues there today
  • Many pieces are still made by family-run workshops and long-established factories
  • Each piece is shaped, then decorated by hand using small sponge stamps and brushes
  • Artists build patterns one stamp at a time, which is why no two pieces are exactly alike
  • Fired at very high temperatures, which makes the stoneware strong and chip-resistant
